Downbeat is an original and addictive game in which you are a famous DJ who travels around the USA with his music. Your goal is to keep the groove bar up by getting dancers to the floor. Dancers leave on their own over time, and your groove slowly fades if you don't bring new dancers to the dancing floor. There are many things that make your lose your groove, namely, dancers that leave, empty floors, and offbeat clicks. When you have no groove left the level is over. Dancers must be sent to the floor matching their color, and you send them by clicking on the corresponding floors on the available spots. The dancers come following the rhythm of the song and this determines the difficulty of the game. Every level offers different tunes. There are also rainbow dancers that can be sent to any floor as well as bonus objects like guitars that have to be sent to their corresponding floors according to the color.
The game includes two modes: City mode, in which visit NYC, LA, Miami, and London in that order, and the Free mode, in which you choose your favorite tunes which are unlocked when you play the City mode.
The tunes included are very good as well as the sound effects. Graphics are colorful and nice, but nothing impressive.
All in all, Downbeat is an original game that will surely attract many music fans and will keep you playing for a while.
